Crossing Icons

A New Collection by Harold Rubio

A study of identity, symbolism, and visual language.

Crossing Icons introduces a new body of work by Harold Rubio, where symbols, forms, and cultural references converge into a refined visual language.

Rooted in both personal narrative and collective memory, the collection explores how identity is constructed, interpreted, and reimagined through image.

Collection Statement

In Crossing Icons, Harold Rubio examines the role of iconography in shaping perception and meaning. Through a contemporary lens, he reinterprets decolonial objects and visual structures traditionally associated with Western culture.

Each work exists at the intersection of memory, form, and symbolism — where familiar elements are transformed into new visual experiences.

Working with clay as both material and metaphor, Rubio introduces texture as a language of its own. The surface becomes a space of learning, imprint, and transformation, reflecting his personal journey of understanding the world through images and reading.

This series is deeply rooted in semiotics — the study of signs and meaning — inviting the viewer to engage not only with what is seen, but with what is interpreted.

Artist Highlights

Hello, my name is Harold Rubio, and I invite you to experience my new series, Crossing Icons.

In this body of work, I explore decolonial objects through layered visual compositions. I focus on elements of form, light, and structure that have historically shaped Western culture, reinterpreting them through a personal and contemporary lens.

This series is deeply connected to my own life — particularly my early experiences with learning, reading, and understanding the world through images.

Using clay as both material and metaphor, I explore texture, memory, and semiotics — the meaning behind symbols and how we construct understanding through visual language.

Each piece is an invitation to look, to read, and to reinterpret.

FOR COLLECTORS & GIFTING

A Study in Meaning

Whether acquired as a personal investment or selected for its conceptual depth, each work in Crossing Icons reflects a refined exploration of identity, symbolism, and visual language.

These are not simply images to be seen — but works to be understood, revisited, and lived with over time.

Art is not encountered once.
It is collected, and it stays.
